The Accommodation

The accommodation provided for our journey has been chosen to provide a comfortable stay for the entire family. Given the variety of locations we will travel to, each venue will offer our guests their own unique facilities. We encourage our guests to remember that we will be travelling through remote parts of Indonesia, away from the larger tourist areas, and as such, the quality of the accommodation may be simpler than guests may ordinarily be accustomed to. All venues are clean and tidy, offer hot water and air conditioning where available. Some will offer guests the opportunity to upgrade to larger rooms or family bungalows.

Accommodation on board our 4 day live aboard boat is very rustic. The boat has shared bathroom facilities, without showers (but lots of swimming), and open planned sleeping in the large deck area (undercover). Guests will have the opportunity to upgrade their accommodation to a private 2-person cabin (limited numbers).  Deck accommodation includes an individual mattress, single pillow and blanket, while Cabins include a soft mattress, two pillows and two blankets. Our live aboard experience is for those with a true sense of adventure, for those that value experiences over luxury and for those that want to enjoy a once in a life time adventure, at an affordable price, with a community of worldschooling families.

The Food
The Food

Indonesian food is one of the most vibrant and colourful cuisines in the world, full of intense flavour. It is incredibly diverse, due in part to the approximate 6,000 populated islands and more than 300 ethnic groups calling Indonesia home. Many regional cuisines exist, often based upon indigenous culture and foreign influences. Indonesia has around 5,350 traditional recipes, with 30 of them considered the most important. Indonesia’s cuisine may include rice, noodle and soup dishes in modest local eateries to street-side snacks and top-dollar plates.

Guests will enjoy a range of delicious Indonesian dishes throughout the trip, with most meals included in cost of the trip.

About Us
About Us

Worldschooling Central was created by Karen King. Aussie, Wife, Mum of 2, and Full-Time International House Sitter, Karen created Worldschooling Central in 2017, to help families share their experiences, learn from one another, connect with other worldschooling families and to create a true sense of community no matter where families are in the world!

In 2014, Karen and her family were living the “Aussie Dream”. They had a beautiful, newly built home, owned a small family business, her Husband Cameron was working offshore in a high paying job, and both kids were in school… life should have been incredible! But it wasn’t. Life was too serious. They agreed they weren’t having any fun. They were working too hard and were missing out on watching their children grow. There had to be more to life!

After discovering the phrase “Location Independence”, Karen and her Husband sold everything they owned and decided to travel the world full time!

The highlight for the whole family has been connecting with families all over the world – and now they’d love you to join them and travel through Indonesia.
